Research on heritage education consistently highlights that heritage plays a key role in shaping the identity or idiosyncrasy of an individual, people, or community. However, it does not specify how or to what extent it influences personal or collective identity. Therefore, it is essential to explore to what degree heritage education influences identity formation, particularly in children and young people within a specific context.
With this in mind, Càtedra Pirineus UdL aims to analyse the relationship between heritage, heritage education, and students’ self-conception of identity. The study focuses on sixth-grade primary and fourth-year secondary students from schools in the five counties of the Alt Pirineu and Aran. Additionally, it examines this connection from the perspective of teachers who teach subjects related to natural or cultural heritage.
Analysis of students’ and teachers’ perceptions, conceptions, and teaching experiences regarding heritage and its relationship with students’ self-conception of identity in the Alt Pirineu and Aran.
Report with the study’s findings, identifying needs and best practices.
Feedback session to present the results to educators in the Alt Pirineu and Aran.
Dissemination of findings in high-impact conferences and academic publications.
