Heritage education is a well-established discipline in both academic and scientific fields. In recent years, numerous projects and activities have been developed that acknowledge the educational potential of heritage. However, questions remain whether these initiatives adopt a holistic perspective, incorporate diverse educational methodologies, and whether teachers have sufficient knowledge of heritage, among other considerations.
To address these issues, the Chair of Education and Intangible Heritage of the Pyrenees launched a research project to assess the state of heritage education in Andorra. The study examines formal and non-formal educational practices, focusing on primary and secondary education across Andorra’s three educational systems, as well as heritage education efforts in museums and interpretation centres.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Research Group in Education (GRIE) at the University of Andorra, with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Government of Andorra.
Analysis of students’ and teachers’ perceptions, conceptions, and teaching experiences related to heritage in primary and secondary education.
Report summarizing the study’s findings, identifying needs and best practices.
Feedback session to present the results to Andorran educators.
Dissemination of results at conferences.
Dissemination of findings in high-impact conferences and academic journals.
