In December 2015, a group of 65 Fallaire villages in the Pyrenees, including Sant Julià de Cerdanyola, achieved the UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity award for these festivals. Since the end of 2015, all the children at L’Albiol School, from EI3 to 6, have been working on the educational project: “Let’s sponsor our heritage: the Fia-Faia.” This project is based on the sponsorship of an element of the town’s monumental, cultural, intangible, or natural heritage by an educational centre.
The L’Albiol School in Sant Julià de Cerdanyola is a single-family school, currently with 9 students and a homeroom teacher. The children in Early Childhood and Primary Education share the classroom and activities.
The element our school decided to sponsor is related to intangible heritage, such as the traditional festival of Fia-Faia.
Escola l’Albiol uses the festival as a teaching resource through a cooperative work methodology, conducting research and analysing various collections and in various formats, as well as carrying out various activities related to the festival, developed across different curricular areas. In addition to cultivating intangible heritage, the school participates in all the activities and festive events organized in the town in relation to the celebration of Fia-Faia.
All these explanations, activities, outings, etc., have been compiled on the blog: so that anyone interested can access it and enjoy all the activities related to the Fallas festival.
The activities presented on the project blog can be adapted to the needs of each group and child.
