For the second consecutive year, and thanks to a collaboration agreement between the Association for Vocational Training in Alt Empordà and Adrinoc, in October 2018, students from the UEC des Océanis in Figueres were able to sample dry stone construction techniques.
The UEC (Shared Schooling Unit) is a program endorsed by the Department of Education of the Generalitat of Catalonia that is aimed at students with special needs in their academic and vocational training.
For three days, trainers Modest Soy and Xavier Laporta (Prat Comú Association) taught these young people, aged 14 to 16, the theory and practice of this traditional construction method so prevalent in our region. The training was divided into three activities: theoretical training on basic construction typologies and techniques, a tour of the Cap de Creus Natural Park to learn about the dry-stone heritage firsthand, and two practical sessions on wall construction.
This training offers a cross-cutting perspective, impacting diverse topics: from natural heritage to educational guidance in the vocational field.
It is an inclusive and cross-cutting training, with a systemic perspective.
