According to the Reus City Council: “Students learn about different curricular areas through experiential, meaningful, and functional learning. This is achieved through various interrelated projects, which have the students as protagonists and simultaneously involve all students at the school, teachers, families, and the community. The “How to Go Through Life Alone” project has received several educational awards. The most recent was in the 2019-20 academic year, with recognition as a benchmark practice for pedagogical innovation from the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government).”
The project encompasses diverse themes and connects content related to many different subjects. Natural heritage, both tangible and intangible, is present throughout, as the traditions and culture surrounding them and the natural spaces in their environment are linked to the project, impacting the identity of the students and those of the other educational stakeholders who support them: school, teachers, family, community, etc.
